Digital age innovation project: part 1
I am working with 3 other teacher candidates in my program on a digital age innovation project. The topic of our project is My Big Campus.
I first came into contact with My Big Campus during my Clinical Practice I at Escondido Union High School. My cooperating teacher and I even used it inside a lesson using Google ChromeBooks. At first glance, to me it looked like a private, academically focused, Facebook. I thought about the benefits of using this type of platform for learning...
So, what is the difference between creating a private Facebook group and using My Big Campus? Since Facebook is free, and it already exists, and there is likely little to no learning curve to students... Why not just use Facebook, or some other familiar social media platform, to accomplish what My Big Campus is attempting to accomplish?
Well, this is what I looked into and will be looking into more deeply as this project moves forward.

- Students need to learn how to use Internet space. How to avoid confrontation, be encouraging, etc -- overall: to become better online citizens. This is so important because of how small the world is becoming as we become more connected online.
